ALAN HANSEN

The Guvner. Alan Hansen is one of those very rare pundits whose opinion you look forward to hearing. He’s looking a bit complacent these days and you can almost taste the disdain in which he holds his ‘not as good’ colleagues. But he’s still good value. To see if we could catch him out we transcribed the first three significant comments he had to make on a recent Match of the Day. As you can see, he doesn’t make mistakes.

Liverpool vs Everton

After Gary Lineaker saying it was a very lively game.

Well it was but it was funny because after ten minutes I thought, and looking at the pace, the intensity wasn’t there and the pressure on the ball wasn’t there, and then 80 minutes later, ten yellows, two reds, four goals, a little bit of dancin’ drama, excitement, it was a fantastic watch and a great game.

On Drogba

I think that he’s gotta be really careful in as much that we have seen several incidents recently where he’s gone down with very little contact or no contact at all. Now when a referee is watching him now at the back of his mind he’ll be thinking is this legitimate or is this not legitimate.

One more but you get the picture

On West ham vs Wigan

It has been a fantastic week for West ham. Beat Man City in the cup and then a really good draw err for the semi finals and you might’ve forgiven them an an adverse reaction to that and they’ve come out and they’ve gone to a place where you’d expect Wigan to come at full throttle and they did exactly that. I think it’s a credit to the players but more so a credit to the manager who’s had an unbelievable season. He’s had them fired up and they’ve gone there and got a result.
