ANDY GRAY

Andy Gray is the best all-round pundit on the box. He can co-commentate, act the post-match pundit, interview, analyse, discuss, make the tea, he can do it all. We taped these two dull matches (nil-nil a piece) and picked out his comments at random, so they’re not his best. But they’re still on the mark. Oooh, he’s good.

LYONS vs MILAN 29/03/06
Well, this has this has been the second half for Milan - sloppy at the back. That’s a little ahead of Carew but that one there, well maybe the goalkeepers saving it but two good opportunities and they’re squandered, both Carew and Tiago.

Yeah I mean I think even with the Lyons players you watch you look at the team. There’s no huge urgency about them. They’re not going into the last ten minutes of this match and throwing the kitchen sink at Milan.

WEST HAM vs CHARLTON 02/04/06
That’s the first piece of pressure that Charlton have had in the match. Three or four corners almost back to back.

That was good defending from Chris Perry. I think Harewood would’ve fancied that against a smaller player using his body weight but he worked the opening Perry did. Stuck to it very, very well. Did a good job.Ed: We’ll do more on Andy in future issues just to show how good he is but for now, no complaints.  Articulate and interesting and when he’s co-commentating (as above) his contributions are seamless.
