GARY PALLISTER

Gary’s not on much. We can’t see him fitting the BBC’s Blazer and Tie image at all but of what we’ve seen he’s not that bad. We might yet be proved wrong but so far Gary looks a bit of a natural on screen. His tie’s coming undone, his suit looks greasy and creased and if he slumps any further in his chair he’ll slide off. He’d come bottom of the BBC’s finishing school but therein lies Gary’s charm. He’s a regular guy. And if you apply the sidenetting ‘beer with a pundit’ test he’d pass first time, but he’d drink you under the table, no worries. And if a fight broke out….

This pretty much goes for what Gary says as well. You’ll never learn great things from him, when do you ever from a football pundit, but it’s more than just ‘say what you see’. Sure, he gets a bit tongue-tied sometimes, but not often, and he’s got that northern vernacular that we down south find so quaint (you really are fired –Ed).

And Gary’s delivery is pretty regular as well. When you’ve transcribed as much shite as we have you get to know who can talk and who cant, just by the speed it takes to write it down. And Gary can talk. It’s not Proust but it’s gentle and flowing and he sticks to the point. Just as he played, Gary’s uncomplicated, and self-assured….so far.

ON  MIDDLESBORO’S GOOD RUN

I think it’s the players really Ray. I think they’ve responded to criticism. I think locally they were they were getting some err horrific stick err and they got their hammering at Arsenal. And they got their four nil whooping at Villa and they put it right with the game against Chelsea. They got George Bouteng back in the team erm they’ve got a young lad there, Cattermole who’s coming through. He’s been err a revelation there in the midfield and I think that basically it’s been down to the players. The Manager kept his council and err they’ve just been brilliant over the last few weeks.

ON SEAN WRIGHT PHILLIPS ‘FALLING’ OVER ELLIOTT
He’s seen the body shape of Elliott coming across and I think he’s waiting to get clattered and ‘e expected to get hit and all at the last second he turns his body and lets him go and he’s he’s also he’s almost kind of bracing himself to be hit and that’s why he went down.
Ed’s note: Careful Gary

School Report Spring Term Year 1: Well done Gary. Good effort. You’re still on probation though and much can change during the World Cup exams but stick to being yourself and you should graduate to Skyschool soon. Don’t play with the nasty kids from the estate, Ian Wright and Les Ferdinand, and try not to upset the Form Prefect, Graeme Le Saux (since expelled – all enquiries to Bravo Reform School)
